THE GOSPEL TO THE FOURTH DIMENSION

PROLOGUE: THE GOSPEL IS FOUR-DIMENSIONAL

The gospel truly is fourth-dimensional. What do I mean when I say this? Begin with the fact that the number four denotes God’s government of men and affairs on earth. I could expand this explanation with many Scripture verses illustrating this truth, but let us settle for two key examples. First, Israel was to encamp in the form of a square. The tabernacle rested in the center with three tribes on each of the four sides. This indicated God’s complete governing power and care over the nation of Israel. Four sides mean complete coverage. Then, in the Scripture the eternal city of the book of Revelation, the picture of the everlasting abode of the saints, is a city four-square. This indicates that God’s government and His purpose have triumphed completely, that is, in four dimensions, or sides. There are four sides to the complete pattern.

The gospel is the word of dominion to planet earth. Through the power and authority of the gospel word God’s government is secured among men and their affairs on earth. The Great Commission released four streams of life and power into the history of humanity. Within the totality of those four streams lies a complete picture of God’s eternal nature, a view of how He has chosen to relate to us, and much, much more. Let us look and see!
