COMMENTARY Don Atkin |
CZAR OF THE KINGDOM
Originally, the title Czar
(derived from Caesar) meant Emperor in the European
medieval sense of the term, that is, a ruler who claims the same rank as a Roman
emperor, with the approval of another emperor or a supreme ecclesiastical official
(the Pope or the Ecumenical Patriarch).
Occasionally, the word could be used to designate other,
non-Christian, supreme rulers. In Russia and Bulgaria the imperial connotations
of the term were blurred with time and, by the 19th century, it had come to be
viewed as an equivalent of King. - Wikipedia
“This
is the stone (Jesus) which was rejected by you builders, which has become the
chief cornerstone. Nor is there salvation
in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which
we must be saved.” – Acts
The verses just before this passage express
the great need to bear kingdom fruit!
Kingdom fruit is the normal result of abiding
in the Vine. Jesus is Czar!
Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them. – Verses 19-20
