WALK, STAND, SIT

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,

Nor stands in the path of sinners,

Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;

But his delight is in the law of the Lord,

And in His law he meditates day and night. - Psalm 1:1-2.

Most believers score two out of three. They are pretty-much up to speed when it comes to avoiding (1) the counsel of the wicked and (2) the path of sinners.

However, too many who claim Christ as their life (3) sit in the seat of the scornful!

Scorn (Webster): "Extreme, often indignant, contempt for someone or something."

Talk show hosts and news commentators often permeate the air with scorn. It is appalling how many Christians get caught up in the scorning of people whose political philosophies are different than theirs, and indignantly speak about them with contempt.

To do so is to sit in the seat of the scornful.

The authorities that exist are appointed by God, and are to be honored. It is our task to pray for them, not to second-guess them.

We are under a higher law, the law of the Lord. The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. We are to set our mind on things above, not things of the earth. He who does so will know how to vote when the time comes. Also,

He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water,

That brings forth its fruit in its season,

Whose leaf also shall not wither;

And whatever he does shall prosper. - Psalm 1:3.

We are seated together in Christ.

We are to walk in a manner worthy of our calling.

We are to stand, dressed in the whole armor of God.

May I encourage you to not disqualify yourself from fruitfulness by copping carnal attitudes?
