DEEPER REFLECTIONS

This morning, a neighbor told me that he will be flying his flag at half-mast today. He is apparently grieving over the election results.

The popular vote reflects the condition of the soul of a nation. God often gives people the desire of their hearts, with leanness of soul (Psalm 106:15).

What is needed is for followers of Jesus Christ to step out of the pack and up to the plate with lifestyles that positively influence nations, whose choices reflect kingdom values regardless of personal sacrifice and discomforts.

We believers need to demonstrate and then proclaim the higher kingdom way and mission rather than remain hidden in the crowd of self-centered, situation-swayed, discontented and fickle, earthbound multitudes.

Those who are seeking first the kingdom of God and His righteousness will take up their cross daily, denying themselves, so that Christ’s life may be lived out in and through them. They will be the benefactors of the following:

Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. - Psalm 37:4

This is the way to receive the desires of your heart, without leanness of soul.

Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. - III John 2

Here is a good place to begin:

Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. - Romans 13:1

Our governing authorities are to be honored and prayed for - bottom line!
